Boksburg Child Welfare honours its long-serving members

Lindiwe Buthelezi and Ditseo Siboya have spent 15 years serving their community through Boksburg Child Welfare, proving how passion and commitment can create a lasting impact.

Boksburg Child Welfare honoured Lindiwe Buthelezi and Ditseo Siboya for 15 years of dedicated service during its AGM in Reiger Park on September 13.

Nineteen other employees received long-service certificates, including social workers, social auxiliary workers, programme managers, administrative staff and caregivers, in recognition of their dedication to supporting vulnerable families in the community. Notably, Buthelezi and Siboya served the longest.

For both women, the recognition was meaningful, but their journeys have always been about more than accolades; it has been about passion, commitment, and the lives they have touched.
Buthelezi began her journey with the organisation in 2009 as a volunteer administrative assistant in the Vosloorus office.

“From the beginning, I knew I wanted to dedicate myself to this work long term. I loved the idea of helping people and being part of something bigger than myself.”
Her dedication was quickly noticed, and she officially registered in 2010, moving to the Boksburg office as a receptionist.

“By 2015, I had advanced to administrator, embracing the role with enthusiasm and care.
Buthelezi describes her journey as both fulfilling and inspiring.
“Working with the community gives me a sense of purpose that no other job could. Every smile, every success, every child we help grow, reminds me why I stay. I hope my journey inspires young people to get involved and aim higher than I have.

“I am proud of what I’ve accomplished and plan to continue to retire here.

Siboya, based in Vosloorus, has dedicated her career to social auxiliary work, a role that demands patience, empathy, and understanding.

“Helping the community is not just a job; it’s my purpose. I love being able to offer support and guidance where it is needed most.”

Ditseo Siboya and Doorsammy Naidoo (chairperson).

Siboya also credits her colleagues and managers for providing a supportive environment that has allowed her to remain committed for over a decade.
“You can’t do this work alone. My team has been my backbone, encouraging me through challenges and celebrating the victories with me. That support keeps me going every day,” she explained.

Both women emphasise that the true reward comes from the impact of their work rather than recognition.
“The moments when you see someone you’ve helped overcome a challenge, or watch a child grow and succeed, are priceless,” Siboya reflected.

Buthelezi added: “Being honoured is special, but the fulfilment of serving the community every day is what matters. Those are the moments I will always carry with me.”
