Memorial drive to honour fallen SWS reaction officer Jan Cameron
Cameron is remembered as someone who was always willing to help others.
Spot Watch Security (SWS) and the family of slain reaction officer Jan Cameron will hold a memorial drive on November 15 to honour his life and service.
The 49-year-old was shot and killed in the early hours of November 6 while reportedly responding to a business robbery on Middle Road in Bartlett.
It is understood that he was called for back-up and was shot moments after stepping out of his vehicle.
The memorial drive will take place at GodFirst Family Church, 146 Circuit Road, at 13:30 for 14:00.
Members of security companies, medical response units, CPF, SAPS, and anyone wishing to pay their respects are invited to attend.
Cameron is remembered as a dedicated officer who was passionate about his work and committed to helping others.
His sister, Jakkie Hickman, said the family is still struggling to come to terms with the loss.

“It’s still unbelievable. We’re trying to pick up the pieces. He was an amazing person who would go to great lengths for other people. We grew up in a children’s home and were always there for each other. I love him very much and I’m proud to say he was my brother.”
Hickman shared that she had been diagnosed with brain cancer a few years ago, and her brother’s support meant the world to her.
“There are so many good memories. It breaks my heart. I heard that his last words were: ‘Tell my wife and kids that I love them.’”
According to Hickman, Cameron entered the security industry after he finished school to make a difference.
“My brother died doing what he was passionate about. He also went out to assist a colleague. We just hope justice will prevail.”
Cameron leaves behind his wife, children, family and friends.
A separate memorial service will be held at Nuwe Lewe Boksburg on November 14 at 14:00. For more information, contact Hickman on 071 430 2677.
Meanwhile, Warrant Officer Majang Skalkie confirmed that two men, aged between 24 and 33, have been arrested in connection with the murder.
