Security company technician shot for lunch bag in Witfield

The victim sustained injuries and was transported to hospital.

A technician from a security company was shot and injured during a robbery in Ferceulia Street in Witfield this morning (May 23), during which the suspects fled with a lunch bag.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Constable Khakhathi Siphoro, the incident occurred while the victim and his crew were attending to a faulty alarm at a house on the street.

“While the crew was parked opposite the house and standing outside their vehicle, they noticed two unknown men approaching. One of the suspects grabbed the victim by his belt and began searching him.

When the victim resisted, the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired one shot at him,” said Siphoro.

The suspect then reportedly took a lunch bag from the back of their vehicle and fled the scene.

The victim sustained injuries and was transported to hospital. Details regarding the extent of his injuries are not yet known.

No arrests have been made.

A case of attempted murder has been opened at Boksburg North SAPS for further investigation.
