Sergeant takes Ekurhuleni’s man of the year title
Honoured at the SAPS Ekurhuleni District Excellence Awards, Sergeant Lufuno Mudzuli of Reigerpark SAPS was celebrated for his dedication, discipline, and leadership, earning him one of the district’s highest accolades for his service to the community.
The Reiger Park Police Station’s Sergeant Lufuno Mudzuli was honoured as man of the year at the Ekurhuleni District Excellence Awards, recently held at the Alberton Civic Centre.
The annual ceremony celebrates excellence, dedication and exceptional service among SAPS members and partners across the district.
Described by colleagues as “a dependable and selfless officer who leads by example”, Mudzuli’s passion for policing has earned him respect in and out of uniform.
His recognition as man of the year came alongside another notable achievement: First runner-up in the Vispol category.
According to him, over the years, he has become known for his strong work ethic and ability to bring calm to high-pressure situations.
“Whether co-ordinating patrols, engaging with community structures or supporting fellow officers, I demonstrate what true service means.”
Mudzuli thanked his superiors, colleagues and the community for their support.
“This award is not just about me. It is about teamwork, perseverance and the belief that every effort counts. I’m inspired to continue serving with integrity and making a difference in the lives of our people.
“My humility and commitment reflect the core values that the #ExcellenceAwards seek to inspire, motivating SAPS members to remain focused, energised and proud of their calling to serve.”
