Sweet Deal Properties unites the community in support of Boksburg SPCA

Sweet Deal Properties’ yearly initiative brought the community together, collecting over 400kg of pet food, treats, toys, and more than R6,000 in cash to support the Boksburg SPCA during the holiday season.

Sweet Deal Properties brought the community together on November 29 with a special collection drive on North Rand Road in Beyerspark, gathering much-needed food and donations for the Boksburg SPCA ahead of the holiday season.

Candice Barnard from Sweet Deal Properties explained that the initiative has been running for the past three years.
“We are animal lovers, and the first time we did this, it was very small. The impact we made in the community inspired us to grow it every year. Last year was a huge success, so this year we wanted to do even more,” she said.

Barnard, who adopted a dog from the Boksburg SPCA, spoke about her personal connection to the cause.
“Because I love him so much, we continue this initiative every year at the end of November. It’s our way of giving back and helping pets who desperately need care, especially over the holiday season.”

This year, the drive was supported by several generous sponsors, including Razak Attorneys, ooba Home Loans, Hammond Pole Attorneys, and Tucker’s Attorneys.

Sweet Deal Properties also placed collection trollies at the Atlasville Mall Spar and Ravenswood Pick n Pay, allowing more community members to contribute easily.

“The turnout was amazing. Families, friends, and community members donated generously. We also offered a small token of appreciation that anyone donating R30 or more received a free boerewors roll and a cold drink. The response was overwhelming, and it showed how much the community cares about animals.”

She said the results of the drive were impressive.
“We collected 410kg of dry pet food, 70 tins of pet food, various dog biscuits and treats, cat food packets and treats, pet toys, and R6110 in cash donations.

“These contributions will go a long way in supporting the SPCA during one of their busiest periods of the year.”

Vicky Finnemore, manager of the Boksburg SPCA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Sweet Deal Properties, sponsors, local shopping centres, and the local community.
“The support we receive during this period is vital.”
