Sensei lauds students for their success this year

The students grabbed a total of 61 medals – 22 gold, 14 silver and 20 bronze, as well as five for participation - in seven competitions.

Lotus Karate Club instructor sensei Raveen Dayaram thanked his students following a successful year where they passed gradings and won multiple medals at various competitions.

Dayaram’s karateka attended three gradings and competed in seven tournaments, bringing home a total of 61 medals – 22 gold, 14 silver and 20 bronze, as well as five for participation.

“We are extremely proud of our karateka. They worked really hard in their training to keep up with the very high standards of the South African Shotokan Karate Association (SASKA). Their grit and determination really deserves a standing ovation.

“I thank all the students from the bottom of my heart for all the hard work and effort that they have put into their Karate this year,” said the sensei.

The karateka were awarded with certificates at the club’s awards ceremony in Alberton on December 6.
Dayaram, from Parkrand, also congratulated 17 of his students for passing their grading in Alberton on November 15.

He said, “They worked hard and put a lot of effort into this grading. It was a lot of work from our Karateka and they did it extremely well. They all passed and have graded to their next belts”.
