O’Connor and Mogotsi lead charge at Springs Striders Race

They placed first in their categories.

Brigitte O’Connor and Zacharia Mogotsi led the Boksburg Athletic Club (BAC) charge with victories in their categories at the Springs Striders Road Race on January 18.

O’Connor produced an impressive performance in the women’s 15km, finishing the race as the fifth woman overall and first in the veteran women’s (40-49) category. She clocked 01:06:22 for her victory.

Sheree Rogers finished fifth in the same race in 01:16:39, while Jenny Rogers was ninth in 01:45:01.

In the men’s 15km, Hilton Hosmer was the club’s first across the finish line. He clocked 01:05:16 to finish fifth in the master men’s (50–59) race, while Wynand Strydom finished 10th in 01:11:30 in the same race.

Mogotsi clinched the men’s grandmasters race after taking line honours in 02:35:57 in the 32km event. Rita van Wyk added the club’s third podium finish of the day after finishing the 32km grandmaster women’s race third in 03:12:47.

Graham Wonfor was fourth in 03:49:25 in the 70+ men’s race, while Ryan Gibson clocked 02:23:41 for 10th in the veteran men’s race.
