Flourish programme empowers mothers on the journey to motherhood
Mothers and moms-to-be are invited to join Flourish, a supportive and interactive programme offering practical guidance and confidence-building activities.
Pregnancy is often described as a joyful journey, but for many women it can also feel overwhelming, especially when support and reliable guidance are hard to find.
Mothers and moms-to-be in and around Boksburg now have access to Flourish, a programme designed to help women navigate pregnancy and early motherhood with confidence, knowledge and a strong sense of community.
The Flourish programme will be hosted at Reiger Park Library and kicks off on February 17 at 10:30.
Flourish host, Phindile Sibeko said the programme runs over five weeks, ensuring mothers receive guidance before and after birth.
“Sessions take place twice a week and offer flexibility, allowing participants to join either in person or online. Each session is interactive, engaging and different, making learning both practical and fun.”
“When needed, the programme also moves into other communities, depending on venue availability.”
Sibeko said the Flourish journey is structured into 10 meaningful steps.
“It begins with a warm welcome, connecting with your baby, followed by sessions such as The Future Is Now, where mothers are encouraged to invite their partners or trusted support persons.
“Activities include creating a wish-ribbon mobile, a fun cook-off during Yummy Mummy, vision board creation in Growing Greatness, financial guidance in Money-Savvy Mommy, breastfeeding support, birth preparation, and ends with a celebratory baby shower.”

She went on to say that Flourish supports mothers from pregnancy through to a child’s second birthday, offering practical, life-changing guidance that helps prevent stunted growth and supports healthy brain and body development during the crucial first 1000 days of life.
“The programme forms part of the Grow Great campaign, which focuses on giving every child the best possible start in life.
“Mothers are equipped with essential knowledge on nutrition, pregnancy care, breastfeeding, bonding with their babies, and mental wellbeing.
More than just an educational programme, Flourish creates a safe support network where women can share experiences, ask questions and learn from one another.
“Its flexible format makes it accessible to mothers from all walks of life.
“Our goal is to create a space where women feel heard, supported and empowered.
“Flourish is about growing together, not alone.”
Sibeko said participants leave the programme with practical skills, increased confidence and emotional support that helps reduce stress and anxiety.
“Many also form lasting friendships, strengthening community bonds long after the programme ends.
“I love seeing the change. Women arrive unsure and sometimes scared, but they leave laughing, hopeful and confident. That’s what Flourish is all about.”
She added that the support goes beyond motherhood. Mothers who are unemployed are assisted with job opportunities or guided on how to start their own small businesses, while those struggling with habits such as drinking or smoking are referred for additional support, ensuring both mother and baby have the best possible chance at a healthy future.
