How long have you been a member of BCC? Since 2017. Skill level? Master.

Where was the image taken? Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

What inspired the image? The interaction between different species.

What time of day was the image taken? 09:02:10.

Camera settings? F13,1/5000 of a second, compensation -0.33, ISO 1800.

Why do you enjoy being a member of the club?

Photography can be a lonely hobby; going out there on your own to capture an image at first light. This is where the camera club plays a very important role since you have been out there on your own with no one to compare ideas regarding settings, background, composition, light direction and various other techniques.

Back at the club, I can hand in my images to be judged by an experienced judge who will give me valuable feedback on how to improve my photography.

There is also the very important social interaction before the start of the judging session and during the tea break where eye-to eye advice from fellow photographers is absolutely priceless.

A must mention is the healthy club competition, which is key to improving your photography and enabling you to participate in national and international competitions.

What do you enjoy most about photography and why?

The early morning crisp air in the hide waiting for the action to start and then the perfect shot to confirm that all the planning of choosing
the correct background, camera settings, light direction and various practiced camera techniques has all come together for the privilege
of capturing a small part of nature to share with fellow like-minded club members.
