No fatalities after serious crash in Rondelbult

Despite the severity of a collision between a minibus taxi and a light delivery vehicle in Rondelbult, emergency responders confirmed that no deaths were reported.

At about 06:56 on March 10, the City of Ekurhuleni’s Emergency Management Services (EMS) were dispatched to the intersection of the R554 and Heidelberg Road, in Rondebult, following reports of a serious motor vehicle accident.

According to DEMS spokesperson Tikkie MacDonald, emergency crews arrived to find a collision involving a light delivery vehicle (bakkie) and a minibus taxi.

“The impact resulted in multiple casualties, with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

“Firefighters and paramedics quickly secured the scene and began triaging the injured. Emergency medical personnel stabilised all injured occupants on site before transporting them to various hospitals in the surrounding areas for further medical treatment.”

MacDonald noted that despite the severity of the collision, no fatalities were reported at the scene.

“The scene has since been handed over to the EMPD for investigation,” she said.

Authorities have urged motorists to remain vigilant on the roads, especially during early morning peak-hour traffic.
