Keep Atlasville clean: Support the Boksburg Community Clean-Up Project

"Let’s show up for our community and take pride in the spaces we share.”

The Boksburg Community Clean-Up Project is calling on all Atlasville residents to help keep the neighborhood clean, safe, and beautiful.

For the past three years, the project has been tirelessly maintaining public spaces, including parks, road verges, open fields, wetlands, and other green areas – all to ensure the community thrives.

According to Boksburg Community Project (BCP)’s Helen Kruger, the project faces a major challenge. Only four households are contributing monthly to help sustain the operations of the project.

She said the donations from these few households cover just a fraction of the costs needed to maintain the neighbourhood.

Litter cleanup alone costs R2 500 per month, and while fundraising events like the annual golf day help, the profit from these efforts cannot be enough to replace the support of the community.
“If every household contributed R50 per month, we could dramatically improve our streets, parks, and the vlei.”
Your contribution would go directly to:
• Litter pickup
• Grass cutting and weeding in the vlei
• Patching potholes and other small projects to keep the public spaces clean and safe

Rather than relying on weekend volunteers, which drew little response, the project now hires locals who are currently unemployed to carry out the clean-ups.

That means your contributions not only improve the community but also provide some income to people who need it.
