One of the highlights of the morning was the strong support shown by the community. Residents took the opportunity to meet local stallholders and learn more about the products and services available within their neighbourhood.

At the spaza shop table, Johann, Petro and Leanli Prinsloo welcomed customers throughout the morning; they had a lot of selected things to sell like daily essentials and decorative handmade toys.
Visitors also admired the handmade creations on display at the knitting stall run by Pam Gallop, Glenna Van Gogh and Peggy de Jäger.

Book lovers gathered around the stand hosted by Debby Smith, while Sandra Pheiffer’s intricate frames and needlework display attracted plenty of attention from shoppers looking for unique handcrafted items.

Plant enthusiasts also found plenty to enjoy at the Plantastic stall run by Antonette Aubrey and Claassen, where a variety of plants added colour and charm to the market.

The cake table, hosted by Lesley Smith and Klaudia Bekker, proved especially popular, with visitors stopping by for a sweet treat as they made their way around the venue.

Book stand exhibitor Debby Smith said she was delighted to see the local newspaper highlighting positive stories within the community.

“I think it’s wonderful that the newspaper is taking the time to cover events like this. We often hear so much political news, so it’s refreshing to see positive community stories being shared. “Days like today remind us how important it is to support one another and celebrate the good things happening around us,” Debby said.

Residents’ Association Chairperson Erica Rindfleisch said the event exceeded expectations and demonstrated the strength of the Allen Woodrow community.

Residents’ Association Chairperson Erica Rindfleisch helped make the Allen Woodrow Morning Market a successful community event.

“The turnout today has been absolutely incredible. We have seen residents of all ages coming together, supporting local stallholders and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. This market is about more than shopping; it’s about building relationships, creating a sense of belonging and strengthening our community.

“Seeing everyone here laughing, chatting and enjoying themselves makes all the hard work worthwhile,” Erica said.

Erica added that the morning market is held once a year, but they hope to make it more frequent as it brings everyone together.
