Boksburg SPCA Christmas Cheer Funds sets R100 000 target
From better shelter facilities for farm animals to food, medical equipment and outreach sterilisation programmes, the Boksburg SPCA is hoping the community will help make a difference to animals in need this festive season.
As the festive season approaches, the Boksburg SPCA is calling on residents, local businesses and corporates to open their hearts and support its annual Christmas Cheer Fund, with a fundraising target of R100 000.
The campaign aims to raise much-needed funds for projects that will improve the lives of animals in the society’s care, while helping extend its reach into surrounding communities.
This year, the Christmas Cheer Fund initiative will focus on five key areas, each aimed at addressing the everyday needs of animals at the shelter and beyond.
One of the major projects is the upgrading of the farm animal shelter, which will include the construction of a new chicken run to provide a safer and more suitable environment for the animals.
The SPCA is also appealing for donations towards dry and wet food for dogs, puppies, cats and kittens, which is a year-round need.
Funds will further go towards essential clinic equipment to support their veterinary services, as well as its outreach programmes, which provide sterilisation services and supplies to animals in communities where resources are limited.
Additional kennel and cattery essentials are also on the wish list.
These include dog beds, igloo kennels, heavy-duty hosepipes and other practical items needed to maintain a clean, comfortable and safe environment for the animals.
The SPCA is reminding supporters that every contribution counts, with donations of all amounts bringing these projects closer to reality.
Residents and businesses can make donations at their offices in Railway Street, where cash and card facilities are available, or contribute via EFT or Yoco.
All donations qualify for a Section 18A tax certificate.
