Learners were treated to a sky-high surprise – a helicopter landing, a celebrity visit and big prizes, all part of CBC’s Sixty60 Day.

If you noticed a helicopter circling the skies over Boksburg South on Friday morning, your curiosity was well placed.

This was no emergency as it marked the arrival of an extraordinary delivery as Checkers Sixty60 descended on Christian Brothers’ College (CBC), treating learners and staff to a high-energy experience that left them buzzing with excitement.

Excitement fills the stands as groups of learners celebrate the high-energy Sixty60 Day festivities.

The day began with a series of lively 60-minute and 60-second challenges tailored to different age groups, keeping learners engaged throughout. Checkers added to the festive atmosphere with face painting, stilt walkers, a photo booth, and snacks and drinks to keep energy levels high.

“Then came the showstopper as the ultimate delivery. In true Sixty60 fashion, and taking things to new heights, a branded helicopter appeared out of nowhere, descending onto the school’s sports field.”

Learners watched in awe, with many expressing their great joy through screams and singing as the aircraft landed and later took off again, leaving behind a wave of excitement.
Stepping out of the helicopter was Jason Goliath, whose arrival was met with cheers and laughter. He interacted with learners and staff, handing out prizes and adding his signature humour to the day.

The celebrations continued with best-dressed learners receiving goody bags filled with Sixty60 merchandise, tech gadgets and other prizes. Teachers, recognised as everyday heroes, were each presented with their own Sixty60 goodie bags. In a final gesture, the school received R10 000 in Sixty60 app credit.

CBC’s enthusiasm for the brand made it an ideal partner for the activation. For Checkers Sixty60, the aim was simple – to create lasting memories while celebrating learners and the educators who support them.

From the school:
“As a college, we were beyond excited to celebrate one of the best brands in South Africa with our own Checkers Sixty60 Day. From teachers to boys, everyone showcased their best 60-second skills at interactive stations across the college.

“Of course, Checkers Sixty60 took it to a whole new level. A helicopter landing on the school field – then Jason Goliath stepping out? It was truly the best day ever!” said Nikita Teixeira, head of marketing at CBC Boksburg.
