Suspect dies during robbery at Jet Park company

An ambulance was called and the robber was certified dead.

The Boksburg North police have launched a manhunt after a gang of about 20 robbers stormed a logistics company in Jet Park where they held staff at gunpoint, before helping themselves to company and staff belongings on October 27.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Justice Ramaube, the ordeal unfolded at about 21:00 when a gunman accosted one of the company’s drivers after he parked his company’s truck.

Ramaube explained the gunman instructed the driver to keep quiet and took him into a warehouse where there were other employees, before a gang of about 19 other robbers joined them.

“The robbers tied up the employees with shoelaces, searched them and took their money and cellphones. They took four of the company’s laptops, before start loading the warehouse stock onto their white truck.

“Staff members who managed to untie the laces allegedly fought back and one of the suspects suffered injuries.

The injured suspect was later declared dead on the scene by paramedics. His accomplices, however, managed to escape,” said Ramaube.

Police have registered a case of business robbery and enquiries are underway to determine the circumstances leading to the death of the suspect.
