
Possession of drugs
Wenzel Howard (33) from Reiger Park was sentenced to an R2 000 fine or 90 days in prison on November 10 for possession of drugs.
Howard pleaded not guilty on November 1 and was found guilty on November 10.
On April 12, he was found in possession of 0.40g of methamphetamine in Boksburg North.
Magistrate Viviers presided and prosecutor Lingane represented the State.
Theft
• Nonjabulo Vuyiswa Mtshali (31) from Boksburg was sentenced on November 25 to an R5 000 fine or 10 months imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years, for stealing. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
Mtshali pleaded not guilty and was found guilty on the same day she was sentenced.
She stole R12 880 cash from Khyalethu Tavern on May 16.
Magistrate Viviers presided and prosecutor Lingani represented the State.
• A 33-year-old woman from Johannesburg was sentenced to three years behind bars on November 16 for theft.
Nondumiso Siwela from Johannesburg pleaded guilty and was found guilty on the same day as sentencing.
On September 14, 2016, she stole a skirt and dress valued at R369.90 from Edgars.
Siwela has a string of previous convictions for theft, dating back to 2010, and received the following sentences:
On December 27, 2013, she was sentenced to an R600 fine or three months imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years and declared unfit to possess a firearm.
On April 16, 2014, she was sentenced to an R2 000 fine or two months in prison, suspended for five years.
On July 5, 2014, she was sentenced to an R600 fine or two months imprisonment, suspended for five years.
