Police dispose of liquor confiscated from illegal shebeens
The Reiger Park police will continue closing down illegal shebeens in their area.
The Reiger Park SAPS disposed of large amounts of alcohol, cigarettes and dagga on November 30.
According to spokesperson Constable Johannes Msimanga, the station commander Lieutenant Colonel Eugene Roets led the disposal procedure along with the Vispol commander Lucas Nkwayana and Sergeant Nathi Mokwana.
“The goods were confiscated during the Reiger Park SAPS’ crime prevention operations that the station holds every week. We disposed of illicit substances confiscated in operations between September and November.”
He added that they confiscated the alcohol from illegal shebeens and counterfeit cigarettes and dagga from 20 dealers.
Roets said the confiscation of illicit substances and closing down of illegal shebeens will send a strong message to the lawbreakers in the vicinity of Reiger Park.
“They will know that as the Reiger Park police we fight crime,” he said.
