Security officer foils business robbery in Bartlett

Nobody was injured during the robbery.

A security officer foiled an armed robbery at KGS Express on the morning of November 5.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Justice Ramaube, five armed men entered the premises in a truck.

They tied everybody inside the building with cable ties.

A woman informed the security company about the robbery after logging into the company’s camera system when she couldn’t get hold of her husband.

A security guard responded and a shootout ensued between the suspects and security officer. Nobody was injured.

“The robbers fled the scene with the security guard’s vehicle and left the truck at the premises. The vehicle was recovered on North Rand Road, not far from the crime scene,” added Ramaube.

Ramaube added the robbers tried to rob the store of vabes. One pallet was already loaded onto the vehicle.

The spokesperson added police are investigating a case of attempted murder, attempted business robbery with aggravating circumstances and theft of motor vehicle.
