
Business robberies reported at the Boksburg North SAPS recently:
• On January 30, robbers made off with items to the value of R30 000 in a robbery at a convenience store on Trichards Road.
According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Justice Ramaube, police were told a man was busy with a customer when he was approached by the armed robber who pretended to buy cigarettes.
“The suspect pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the man, demanding money from the tills and he wanted cellphones,” he said.
“More robbers came into the shop, one in possession of a firearm, and took boxes of cigarettes, ice cream in the fridge and a Hollywood voucher to the value of R4 000. In the process, two customers came into the store unaware of the robbery and were robbed of their cellphones.”
Police are investigating a case of business robbery.
• On February 5, a man was shot and rushed to hospital following a robbery at a tavern in Cason Road.
Sergeant Justice Ramaube explained four men entered the tavern and pretended to be customers.
“The man behind the counter was approached by two suspects, one armed, who demanded money and shot one round into the floor Two other suspects took R8 000 from the till and cigarettes.
“Customers in the tavern started to make noise, throwing bottles around and the suspects then fled,” he said.
“A man who saw the robbery tried to chase after the suspects and got shot in the stomach when he blocked them on the corner of Cason and 14th Avenue.
“He was taken to hospital by ambulance. It is alleged the suspects wanted to hijack his car.”
Police are investigating cases of attempted murder, business robbery and hijacking.
