Robbers fatally shoot man

The man was shot in the midsection. He was declared dead at the hospital.

Robbers shot a 24-year-old man during a business robbery at Golden Supermarket, 11th Avenue, Boksburg North, on the evening of October 7.

According to the SAPS Ekurhuleni District communications officer, Captain Nelda Sekgobela, the man was at the shop entrance when the robbers targeted it.

“A silver-grey VW Polo stopped in front of the shop, and four robbers got out and ran into the shop demanding money while pointing a firearm at shoppers. The shopkeepers put up their hands and said they must take what they want,” she said.

The robbers took all the cash registers, which contained an undisclosed amount.

“On the way out, they shot the victim, who was still at the door, in the upper body before fleeing in the Polo, turning left onto Charl Cilliers Street,” she added.
The deceased, a Pakistani national, was taken to Tambo Memorial Hospital for treatment but was certified dead on arrival.

The police have a case of business robbery and murder under investigation.
