Man killed in hit-style shooting in Boksburg

The police appeal for anybody with information to come forward.

The police seek a gunman who shot and killed a 38-year-old man in a hit-style shooting in the Boksburg CBD.

According to the police, the killer approached the deceased on the corner of Commissioner and Short streets yesterday, May 22, and shot him multiple times at close range before fleeing the scene.

The gunman was reportedly seen running towards Short Street, where he was seen jumping into a getaway car (a white VW Polo) before it sped off.

Ekurhuleni district SAPS spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela said, “The police arrived at the scene just after noon and found the unresponsive victim, described as a black male, lying on his back.

He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the upper body, and was certified dead on the scene.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown.

The shooter is described as 1.8m tall man who was wearing a navy jacket and blue jeans.

The Boksburg police appeal to anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Anyone with information can call the Boksburg SAPS on 011 841 6899 (community service centre), 011 841 6858 (detective branch) or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
