As Women’s Month drew to a close, the Boksburg North SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit, in partnership with local youth volunteers, made a visible stand against gender-based violence (GBV) by distributing informative pamphlets at East Rand Mall on August 30.
The initiative aimed to not only raise awareness but also provide vital information about where victims and survivors can seek help.
The pamphlets offered contact details for support services and organisations dedicated to assisting those affected by abuse.
In addition to GBV awareness material, officers and youth ambassadors handed out educational pamphlets covering a range of social issues. These included road safety tips, guidance on how to report poor police service, and the dangers associated with drug and alcohol abuse.
The outreach formed part of the SAPS’s ongoing efforts to engage with the community, especially during Women’s Month, highlighting the importance of prevention, awareness, and accountability in tackling social challenges.
