Fully formed foetus found in bin in Beyers Park

Police are calling on anybody with information about the incident to come forward.

A fully matured foetus was discovered inside a dustbin at Boet Human Park on the afternoon of October 23.

According to Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu, recyclers came across the foetus and notified the police.

“The fully grown foetus was found wrapped in a towel and placed in a bag. We believe that the foetus was dumped the previous night or that morning, as it was not in any state of decomposition,” he said.

Boksburg Child Welfare has condemned the dumping of the foetus as “unacceptable” and a “criminal act.”

Chairperson Dorry Naidoo said more education is needed for young mothers and families facing crisis pregnancies.

“We regularly run informative campaigns in the areas we cover, Boksburg, Reiger Park and Vosloorus. Dumping a foetus is not acceptable. Parents who feel they cannot take care of a baby should rather approach organisations such as child and youth care services for advice.

“There are also many churches that offer guidance and support. Local clinics can also assist, as they provide access to social services,” said Naidoo.
