A fourth suspect appeared in Boksburg Magistrate’s Court this morning (September 8), alongside three others linked to the murder of two women and two police officers in Reiger Park on August 7.

Accused number four’s first appearance was dealt with swiftly with the case being postponed to September 21 to allow the defence to consult with their client.

The 26-year-old suspect was arrested at the weekend and was allegedly found in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition, according to police.

Regan Collis (23), Jamal Meyer (24) and Alvino Crawford (27) are in the dock today for their ongoing bail proceedings.

The trio face four counts of murder, attempted murder, two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances and two counts of unlawful possession of firearms.

The case stems from the August 7 shooting in Reiger Park in which Jaydin Magerman (27), Roleen Lessing (31) and Anti-Gang Unit members Constables Thapelo Tlomatsane and Sphiwe Sibeko were killed.

The defence is expected to introduce video evidence previously described as supporting the accused’s alibis. The accused also made allegations of police torture during the previous bail application hearing.

The latest arrest comes as Reiger Park families and residents continue to call for an end to gang-related shootings and violence in their neighbourhood.
