Reiger Park killings: Hawks make third arrest
Investigators have vowed to continue pursuing those linked to the deadly shooting.
A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing of two police officers and two civilians in Reiger Park, bringing the number of suspects arrested in the case to three.
The 27-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday, August 21, following his arrest on Wednesday, August 19, by the Serious Organised Crime Investigation team based in Germiston.
The case stems from the August 7 shooting in Reiger Park, in which two women, Jaydin Magerman, 27, and Roleen Lessing, 31, and two SAPS Anti-Gang Unit members, Constables Thapelo Tlomatsane, 29, and Sphiwe Sibeko, 28, were killed.

According to the Hawks, an intelligence-driven operation and investigation led the team to the suspect, who was traced to Ekurhuleni and arrested in connection with the killings.
The suspect faces charges similar to those of his co-accused, with police indicating that one of the accused is reportedly a relative of the latest suspect.
The three accused, 23-year-old Regan Collis, 24-year-old Jamal Meyer and the 27-year-old third suspect, face four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances and two counts of unlawful possession of firearms.

The Acting National Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Lieutenant General Sphesihle Nkosi, commended the investigation team for what he described as a swift and methodical operation that led to the latest arrest.
“The Hawks will remain steadfast in our efforts to investigate and apprehend those who involve themselves in taking innocent lives, particularly the lives of our law enforcement officers,” said Nkosi.
Collis and Meyer are scheduled to return to the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on August 25 for their formal bail applications.
The State has indicated that it will oppose bail.
The third suspect’s court appearance on Friday is expected to provide further details about the latest development in the case.
