Weltevreden, Simmer and Jack landfill sites temporarily closed

The city is attending to the situation and will keep the public informed of further developments in due course.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) announced that the Weltevreden (Brakpan) and Simmer and Jack (Germiston) landfill sites are temporarily closed due to unforeseen circumstances.
The CoE did not immediately disclose the exact causes of the abrupt closure, saying an enquiry into the closure is still underway. The city will share more information once they finalise the enquiry.
“The city is attending to the situation and will keep the public informed of further developments in due course,” said the CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.
He advised all the site users to use the Rooikraal landfill site near Boksburg and Platkop at the corner of the N3 highway and the R550 near Heidelberg.
