Simmer and Jack Landfill closes for 2 weeks
The city apologises for the inconvenience this may cause.
The CoE has announced that the Simmer and Jack Landfill will remain closed from November 1 to 13 to allow the newly appointed service provider to do site re-establishment after the previous service provider’s contract expired on October 31.
As a consequence, site users are advised to use the nearest sites – Rietfontein in Springs, Platkop along the N3 in Vosloorus and Rooikraal in Dawn Park.
The city reminds residents that disposing of waste in the vicinity of the temporarily closed site is illegal, a punishable offence and it will prosecute those caught.
“The city will provide constant updates to users when there are new developments about the site. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause,” said metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.
The public is encouraged to log their complaints through the call centres on 086 054 3000 or call.centre@ekurhuleni.gov.za
