Simmer and Jack landfill site in Germiston was temporarily closed after the facility was partially gutted by fire last month.
It is, however, now back to being fully operational.
According to metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, as of May 20 all municipal waste removal trucks, private trucks and general members of the public have been able to access the facility to enjoy the service of dumping waste at a landfill site closest to them.
During the closure of the site, patrons were utilising Weltevreden landfill site in Brakpan, Rietfontein landfill site in Kwa-Thema and Platkop landfill site near the N3 highway in Heidelberg.
“The city thanks all its customers for their patience during the time of closure of the site,” said Dlamini.
