Ridgeview couple still going strong
It has been a splendid 75 years of marriage for Aubrey and Thelma.
Married on August 4, 1947, in Cape Town, the spark of love is still burning in the hearts of this Ridgeview Retirement Village couple.
Newlyweds can learn from Aubrey (97) and Thelma (94) Dampster about what made them fall and stay head-over-heels in love with each other for 75 years.
The couple’s love, trust, and care for one another is the recipe for their long marriage.
“We care about one another and the Lord is the source of our love.
“We do not know of any couple who has been married for this long and that means so much to us,” the couple said.

The couple explained it was love at first sight when they first met each other as children while playing and riding bicycles on the streets of Prince Albert, near Cape Town.
They were blessed with three children, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The lovebirds celebrated their anniversary by having lunch with fellow residents and their daughter, Judith, in the village.
According to Judith, she is proud of them for being married for this long.
“I adore my parents and do everything I can for them. It’s wonderful that I’m living with them so that I can be close to them,” said Judith.
