Stakeholders’ contribution noted during Huis Dien Bothma AGM

SAVF Huis Dien Bothma reflected on a successful 2021/22 during a virtual AGM on September 10.
In his report, Huis Dien Bothma chairperson Johan Louw said the success is due to the committed management, staff, volunteers and other stakeholders.
“The pandemic placed each of us on a strange, unfamiliar and challenging orbit, which demanded more than normal care from each member of management, staff as well as volunteers.
“We also thank and acknowledge the support received from our SAVF national office team.
As referred to in previous reports, unity forms a dream team.
“The new admin and management block with state-of-the-art office equipment ensure our new modern image in senior citizen care,” said the chairperson.
He added the management board extends its gratitude to manager Tiekie Mertens and her staff for their outstanding service to the senior citizens.
“The management team outperformed the challenges that they faced, operational and emotional, to combat not only the day-to-day challenges but to progress and rise above all challenges.”
In her report, Mertens thanked the management, volunteers, Department of Social Development and Department of Health, Boksburg Advertiser and SAVF staff.
“During the past year, we lived and worked by the saying go as far as you can see; when you get there, you will be able to see further, as by Thomas Carlyle.
“With each new day, we are given new hope, new opportunities and possibilities, although it was full of challenges and unknown difficulties.
“A special word of thanks to all the residents and their families for trusting us to look after their parents or family members.
“We committed ourselves to improving our quality care and service. We are registered to accommodate 140 residents.
“The home also provides 27 self-catering flats. These units are maintained independently and without government support.
“Mention needs to be made to our national office, the provincial office, regional manager, managers and colleagues of other facilities and nursing coordinator, for your constant support,” he said.
