Successful fundraiser at Cosmo Old Age Home
Old people who are sheltered at Cosmos Old Age Home were enjoying themselves in the fundraiser.
Cosmos Old Age Home held a fête with some 20 stalls at its premises in Van Dyk Park on October 1.
The CEO of the old age home, Susan Cilliers, said this is the first fundraiser they have had since Covid-19 as the pandemic prevented them from hosting events, thus affecting the old age home’s finances.
“It is important for us to have these types of fundraisers because they keep Cosmos Old Age Home running. Our community members have supported the drive and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for that,” said Cilliers.
She explained that the initiative was successful and that they are planning to do more fundraisers.
“There is a whole range of items sold here today. Entrepreneurs are selling food, furniture, crockery and cutlery and a whole range of items.
Brenda Botha who was selling cupcakes and milk tarts with her husband, Marius, said the atmosphere at the fundraiser is awesome.
“We are excited to be here today because it is fully packed with people. Things look promising for us as entrepreneurs here at the marketplace.
Brenda added that she wouldn’t be anywhere else but here at the market area.
“This is my first time coming to this initiative and judging from my experience today, surely I will come to more fundraising events that are held by this old age home.
“The old age home does a good job in the community by offering a lot of old people shelter. If it wasn’t for the home a lot of old people would be stranded by now,” said Brenda.
