Boksburg Seventh Day Adventist Church is on a mission to stop the usage of illegal drugs in Boksburg.
The personal ministries leader, Jermaine Borden, said they have been hosting anti-drug campaigns over the years.
They are planning to stage more such campaigns and are attending the anti-drug march scheduled on November 26 and the health expo on November 27.
“We have noticed that a lot of people in Boksburg are affected by drugs. The drug scourge has even affected some of the young people in our church. We have had to intervene, resulting in some of them quitting drugs.
“We are embarking on this march because we want the community members to be involved in the fight against drugs.”
He explained that the anti-drug march won’t only take place where they are based. It is going to expand to other areas in Boksburg, such as Boksburg North.
“We are not just using the march to make people aware of drug abuse, but our aim as a church is to win over people who can help us to fight drug abuse.”
He said during the march they will be introducing natural techniques to stop the drug dependency chain that drug addicts are suffering from.
“Such methods include hydro-therapy, nutritional diets, and good sleeping patterns.
“Our hydro-therapy focuses on encouraging drug addicts to drink more water so that they can overcome their addictions. We have also discovered that steaming can also help people to quit their drug addictions because it raises blood pressure and that process stimulates the adrenaline of a person. Adrenaline can act as a preventive measure for anyone’s drug addiction.
“According to our research, diet also plays an important role in stopping a person from focusing on his addiction. Healthy sleeping patterns are vital because if a person doesn’t sleep enough, he won’t have enough energy in the morning. He might then rely on drugs as supplements for his problem,” said Borden.
