The East Rand Business Women (ERBW) held a phenomenal end-year function at Summer Place, on November 11.
The event gave businesswomen a chance to engage and network. A country and pop music artist Ray Dylan kept all the attendees of the event on their feet throughout the function.
Karen Herbst, the chairperson of the organisation, said it’s their tradition as an NPO to have such ceremonies at the end of the year to celebrate themselves as businesswomen.
“The end year functions became a tradition when the ERBW was first established in 2000. Our organisation has 130 women members, but they are only 60 members that are active. We are going to close as an organisation on December 3 and re-open at the end of February.”
She said on November 17 a meeting will be held to discuss their plans for next year.
“We are happy with how the year went for us, although we didn’t do a lot of programmes to uplift the community. We only held a charity golf day on September 28 to aid the Huis Dien Bothman Old Age Home. It was a success. Covid-19 also hampered our charity work over the last two years.
“Our aim is to keep businesswomen united and helpful to one another as an organisation. Other businesswomen who are living in East Rand are welcome to join the organisation because it was formed for them.
“They will benefit from being part of the ERBW because there are a lot of women who are experts in running businesses in our organisation. People who are likely to join our organisation will also gain a wealth of knowledge and guidance about running businesses,” said Herbst.
She added that she has only been a chairperson of the organisation for three years and her aim is to get all the businesswomen in the organisation to support and help one another.
