#16DaysofActivism: Tell us what’s on your mind

The annual 16 Days of Activism for no Violence against Women and Children campaign is in full swing. The Advertiser asked a few locals what their thoughts are on the campaign.

Sonia Chaba: It’s a good thing because during this campaign we say no to abuse. In this light, men should also know they should speak out when being abused.

Lawrence Mahlulo: It’s a good campaign but it needs commitment. We need to take action. Men should be supporting women and children and stop the abuse.

Velia Blignaut: The campaign should be done more often as women and children get abused throughout the year. They should be proactive as it doesn’t help if they protest if the person is already dead.

Ethan Blignaut: It’s an excellent campaign, but it shouldn’t just be for 16 days and should include everybody. Men and animals are also abused.

Cebile Maseko: It’s a good campaign as it encourages people to speak out about abuse. However, it should definitely be a continuous conversation throughout the year.
