SAPS Women’s Network and Men’s Forum hosts uplifting event

Baloyi offered wisdom on financial planning, advising guests to accept what they can afford and not live beyond their means in order to prepare for retirement.

The SAPS Women’s Network and Men’s Forum hosted an event in Reiger Park on May 26 in appreciation of women who were once in the force, for organisations that battle drug addiction and for recovering addicts.

The event, held at Victory Tabernacle Church of Christ, began with students from Ekurhuleni West College in Germiston offering guests hand massages.

According to one of the students, Neo Ngoma, they were all honoured to be part of this event as it makes her love her career even more.

“I get to help people who are always serving others,” she said.

All the students thanked the special guests for their hard work.

Among the guests were Tshwane retired General Mohajane Hilda, Khomotso Baloyi (the financial advisor from Actogen), Ekurhuleni District Brigadiers Albertina Vesi, Ntombizini Thethe, Thembeka Gwebushe and Nkhensani Lemba, Colonel Bartholomew Moru Hlapane of the Provincial SAPS Men’s Forum and the Ekurhuleni district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole.

Seen are Nomsa Nkadimeng, Ponatshego Rampatla, Kgomotso Mabuse, Kgomotso Mathebula and Thembi Mthembu.

Baloyi offered wisdom on financial planning, advising guests to accept what they can afford and not live beyond their means in order to prepare for retirement.

“The cost of living is very high and motherhood is never easy. It is something to prepare for. Stop opening unnecessary accounts and putting you spouses into debt,” she said.

Sithole, who is also the National SAPS Women’s Network champion, said the objective of the network is to give back to the community and victims.

She unpacked the word ‘mother’ in the following way: M (mentor), O (organised), T (teacher), H (helpful and humble), E (encourage each other and energetic), and R (responsible).

She encouraged members to appreciate what they have before complaining about their salaries.

“People should think of the role they play in their families, churches and daily lives. Women carry burdens but God gave them a gift of strength to deal with all challenges,” she said.

Retired women who attended the event received gifts and those who conquered drug addiction received groceries donated by Victory Outreach.
