Boksburg will soon boast a Work 4 a Living training centre to equip the unemployed with the skills needed to join the workforce or start their own businesses.
If everything goes according to plan, the new branch will be offering Work 4 a Living services at the proposed address on Main Reef Road in Anderbolt near Dunswart, starting from the first week of July.
According to the founder of the Boksburg hub, Tara Pluke, Work 4 a Living is a registered non-profit organisation that was started in 2007 in Port Elizabeth, and today boasts over 150 centres across Africa, North America, and South America.
They offer a range of training from job readiness programmes to entrepreneurship and other skills to help its graduates thrive in their daily work as both employees and business owners.
The Work 4 a Living training is available to all. The organisation also partners with other local institutions and individuals who are serving the poor.

centre.”
Pluke pointed out that the organisation also helped her to rise above her circumstances and achieve success.
“As one of the Work 4 a Living past graduates, I decided to open the hub in Boksburg to assist the community to thrive in the workplace, know how to start a business and achieve financial freedom.
“Having obtained my E3 certificate in the job readiness
programme and entrepreneurship at the Northmead Benoni hub, it impacted my life. Not only have I started a business, but I am now trained to facilitate the course.
“Work 4 a Living doesn’t just believe in handing out jobs or funds to start businesses; we believe in true empowerment.
“To us, this means not only educating people with skills that are valuable, but equipping them with mindsets that empower them to own their circumstances, thrive in their daily work, and have hope for the future.
“Our centres teach the basic skills needed to get a job and progress in the workplace, but that is just the beginning. Many people assume that the 50% unemployment rate in South Africa is due to a lack of jobs, but we have found more job opportunities than people to fill them.
“The problem is not a lack of opportunity, the problem is a lack of excellent employees. Hence we teach people how to be excellent and how to benefit their employers beyond the expectations of their job to achieve promotions and better opportunities.”
Pluke pointed out that they also teach financial management, work ethics and personal management to improve the individual’s life
outside of their job.
“We have an exceptionally high retention rate among employers and have become the preferred job readiness course for many companies.
Our secret is our focus on mindset and attitude – this is what truly matters in the workplace.”
