A man was arrested for murder and attempted murder after a fight led to the death of a man at a petrol station on Atlas Road on January 15.
Owner of Legendary Guardians Exclusive Protection (LGEP) Clinton Festraets said their control room received a panic alert at 21:23, and they responded.
“On their arrival, they found a body on the ground. After talking to one of the petrol attendants to get more info, it was understood that two guys were fighting and one man had beaten the other man to death.
“With the help of AfriForum members, LGEP helped to secure the scene and paramedics and SAPS were alerted,” added Festraets.
The suspect was found in a veld opposite the crime scene and taken back to the scene, where he was arrested.
LGEP junior operations manager Iwan Muller, who was on the scene, explained the man was beaten with a tree log.
Muller said it is alleged that the fight was about a woman, and those involved were homeless people living in the vicinity of the crime scene.
Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu confirmed the arrest.
Mngomzelu said the man assaulted two people and that the other person is in hospital.
“Video footage showed the man assaulting the victims,” added Mngomezulu.
Mngomezulu could not divulge more information.
