Impala Park murder: police seek leads

Police are urging community members to come forward with information that lead to arrest of the suspect/s.

Police are appealing for the community to come forward with information regarding the murder of Chris van der Merwe of Impala Park.

Van der Merwe’s burnt body was found in his house on Elizabeth Road at about 06:00 on January 6 after the house had been set alight.

Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack confirmed that no arrests have been made although police are still pursuing a positive lead.

“The CCTV footage that was received has been taken for investigation. It takes time to get feedback because there is a lot of footage coming in from other provinces as well,” said Mngomezulu.
Mngomezulu previously explained that the autopsy revealed that Van der Merwe was still alive when the house was on fire.

Van der Merwe’s light blue metallic Honda Civic, registration WXZ 804 GP, is still missing.

Police are investigating cases of murder, arson, house burglary and theft.

Anybody who can assist the police may call Crime Stop anonymously on 08600 10111 or send information via the MySAPS app.
