Local schools among winners of Edgars CommUnity Competition

For 94 years, Edgars has been a part of South African society, and as an expression of its gratitude, the retailer embarked on a journey of appreciation with the launch of the Edgars CommUnity Competition.
This initiative has taken root in every town where Edgars has a store, aiming to uplift and give back to the communities that have been an essential part of this brand’s journey.
They already distributed R3m to give a gift of support to both young minds and the schools that nurture them.
“This is a tribute to the people and communities that have stood by us over generations.
“Our way of expressing ‘thank you’ is investing in local schools and the children within the communities we serve,” said Norman Drieselmann, CEO of Retailability, the retail expert group that currently owns Edgars.
As part of this collective narrative, Edgars invited school-going children to create a self-portrait that reflected their uniqueness.
The artworks were displayed in store windows, transforming Edgars’ spaces into living tributes to its valued shoppers.
The Edgars CommUnity Competition rewarded up to 103 winners. They contacted the winners and arranged formal prize handovers at selected Edgars stores.
Among the 40 Gauteng winners were St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls, Boksburg and Benoni Junior School.
