Melville Koppies: Spot a golden ‘ribbon’ and get an Easter egg

All proceeds go towards the maintenance of the Koppies.

Melville Koppies Nature Reserve is hosting an Easter egg hunt with a difference on March 31 (Easter Sunday).

Visitors enjoying the walking trails should look out for golden ‘ribbons’ (the leaves of some of the grasses that resemble golden ribbons). They can then pick one and bring it to the reception hut, where it will be exchanged for an Easter egg.

Only one ribbon per child/family member will be eligible.

Actual chocolate eggs cannot be hidden in the reserve as it will confuse the creatures who live there.

If Easter eggs are not your thing, all the other activities are still available; a 5km hike, self-guided heritage trail or enjoy the magnificent views and wide open spaces.

Book a guided tour starting at 08:00 by phoning 079 532 0083.

The Koppies will be open from 08:00 to 11:00. Park opposite the entrance to the Koppies at Marks Park Sports Club in Judith Road, Emmarentia.

The cost is R90 per person and R50 for under 18s. All funds go towards the maintenance of the Koppies.

Contact 079 532 0083 for more info or go to www.mk.org.za
