City completes R2.2m Madeley Road rehabilitation project
The painting of road markings is expected to start this week.
The City of Ekurhuleni has completed the long-awaited resurfacing of Madeley Road in Hughes.
The R2.2m rehabilitation work, which stretches almost a kilometre between Dayan and Rietfontein roads, saw contractors grinding off the pothole-riddled road’s top layer and replacing it with a new asphalt surface.
Work started on April 11 and was completed the following day.
Metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini pointed out that Madeley Road is an alternative route that provides access to key landmarks around the East Rand Mall and connects arterial roads, such as Rietfontein and Jet Park, which link to the R21 and N12.
