Benoni Flying Squad pounces on car linked to vehicle thefts

A vehicle pulled over is allegedly wanted in connection with numerous vehicle break-ins and thefts.

Recent successes by members of Benoni Flying Squad: 

• Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members responded to a security company needing backup in North Rand Road, Boksburg, at around 15:00 on October 28. They had pulled over a white Suzuki Swift with false number plates. It is alleged the vehicle is wanted in connection with numerous vehicle break-ins and thefts. Upon searching the vehicle, members found a signal jammer and various vehicle break-in implements. The three occupants, aged 22 to 50, were arrested.

• Later the same day, at around 18:30, members acting on information arrested the 44-year-old driver of a white Toyota Cross on the N12 near Tom Jones Street. The vehicle had false registration plates and investigations found that it was reported hijacked on a Boksburg North case.

• On October 29, at around 20:20, members patrolling the N12 highway after the Putfontein off-ramp pulled over a white Toyota Hilux. A search led to the recovery of many bags of dagga in the back with an estimated value of around R80 000. A 44-year-old suspect was arrested.

• Members took part in a joint late-night operation leading into the early hours of October 30 which included the DPCI Tactical Operations Management Section (TOMS), Brakpan Crime Prevention and security companies. Three suspects wanted on a Brakpan murder case were arrested. One of these suspects was found in possession of a replica blank firearm containing five live rounds of ammunition.

• Two abandoned stolen motor vehicles were recovered – a silver Toyota Yaris in Swazi Section, Daveyton, reported on a Parkview case and a white Jaguar F-Pace at a shopping centre in Impala Park, Boksburg, reported on a Springs case.
