Cuan remains dedicated to Round Table

The chairperson invites young men to join the organisation.

Cuan Maizey, the current Round Table Gauteng area chairman for 2024/25 and Round Table Boksburg 17 treasurer, has been making an impactful change in the community.

Growing up on a smallholding, Cuan attended Laerskool Die Poort, a small farm school where he and his peers often played barefoot amongst the grazing cattle.

After completing his primary education he moved on to HTS John Vorster. When he finished school he joined a bearings company, later transitioning to Maizey (Pty) Ltd in 2010. Starting as a warehouseman, he quickly advanced to a sales role and later became a branch manager, notably growing the Rustenburg branch during his tenure.

Recognising the need for further development, Cuan pursued business studies at GIBS, balancing work with education while continuing to thrive in his career.

Cuan’s affiliation with Round Table began at a young age, inspired by his grandfather’s encouragement.
Round Table career

As Gauteng area chairman Cuan leads seven active tables, overseeing their progress and ensuring alignment with the organisation’s goals.

His role as treasurer for Round Table Boksburg 17 involves managing finances and supporting local initiatives.

Since Cuan joined, he has witnessed Round Table’s evolution. The organisation’s motto, ‘Adopt, Adapt, Improve,’ captures its commitment to remain relevant. Cuan highlights the importance of attracting younger members, as their fresh ideas and energy are vital for enhancing community services.

Beyond his professional life, Cuan is an avid hiker and enjoys martial arts, music, cooking and reading.

Challenges and initiatives
Despite its positive impact, Round Table faces challenges, including membership retention and the stigma surrounding charity work among youth.

Regarding his favourite Round Table initiative, Cuan said it’s difficult to pick one.

“There are many good projects, but my all-round favourite project has to be the Sabie tube race as it’s a fun event which raises funds that go directly back into the community.”

He invites young professionals seeking to make a meaningful impact to join Round Table, highlighting the organisation’s focus on fellowship, personal growth, and charity.

“If you want to make an impact in your community and grow both personally and professionally, Round Table is the place for you. Reach out to the table and make an impact, be someone worth following and have fun.”
