As blood is in high demand during the festive season, The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is calling on the community to donate blood.
With road accidents, surgeries, and medical treatments on the rise during this time, the need for blood donations is at its peak.
You can, however, assist the blood bank save lives by rolling up your sleeve.
Here are some of the upcoming mobile blood drives:
December 5
Tuckers Attorneys from 10:00 to 15:00.
Medicross Boksburg from 09:00 to 15:00.
December 11
Kingfisher Square from 11:00 to 16:00.
December 13
Fiat and Kia East Rand from 09:00 to 16:00.
December 14
New Apostolic Church, Lilianton, from 15:00 to 18:00.
December 17
SUPERSPAR The Square, Rietfontein Road, from 11:00 to 16:00.
December 18
SUPERSPAR Witfield Square from 11:00 to 16:00.
December 19
Ravenswood Shopping Centre from 11:00 to 16:00.
The Square SUPERSPAR, Rietfontein Road from 11:00 to 16:00.
December 23
Ravenswood Shopping Centre from 11:00 to 16:00.
December 27
SPAR Witfield Square from 11:00 to 16:00.
Residents may also donate blood at the SANBS’s donor centre at the East Rand Mall from 10:00 to 18:00 on weekdays and from 09:00 to 15:00 on weekends and public holidays.
Donors must meet the minimum criteria for donating blood, which are as follows:
• Weigh at least 50kg.
• Be between the ages of 16 and 65.
• Be in good health.
• Leading a sexually safe lifestyle.
• Consider your blood safe for transfusion.
• You may only donate every 56 days.
