St Dom’s make a splash at national diving competition

The school described the day as a success.

The South African School Aquatics Diving Championships took place at St Dominic’s over the weekend, with divers making a notable impression on the national stage.

The competition, held on November 30 and December 1, saw talented young divers from around the country gather to showcase their skills. Among them were several St Dominic’s divers who represented their school with pride.

Dialyn Olsen (Grade Nine) took home the silver medal in the 15-year-old category, while Luna D’Onofrio (Grade Six) and Tamieca Van Ballegooyen both secured fifth-place finishes in the 12-year-old and 17-18-year-old categories, respectively.

The event was attended by Jace Naidoo from Swimming South Africa, who officially opened the St Dominic’s Aquatics Centre in 2012. It was a welcome return for Naidoo, who was impressed by the talent on display.

It showcased the best of school diving in South Africa, and divers can hold their heads high after a strong showing.

The school congratulates its diving coach Dominique Philippopoulos and all the divers who participated.
