Roll up your sleeve at these blood drives in Boksburg
The blood bank is grateful to those who rolled up there sleeves to donate blood.
The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is grateful to have surpassed its blood donation target during the festive season.
Boksburg SANBS donor relations practitioner Peter Mafela expressed his appreciation to all the donors who made this achievement possible for the blood bank.
“Thank you to everyone who donated blood during the festive season. Their generosity ensured that we had a sufficient blood supply. We are especially grateful to both our new donors and our regular supporters,” said Mafela.
The Boksburg branch collected 2 800 units of blood in December, surpassing their target of 2 527 units.
Mafela urged donors to continue donating as part of their lifestyle and support these upcoming mobile blood drives:
January 11: Food Lovers Boksburg, North Rand Road, 10:00 to 15:00.
January 12: Christian Family Church, 08:00 to 13:30.
January 13: Reiger Park Shopping Centre Traders, 11:00 to 16:00.
January 14: Tambo Memorial Hospital, 09:30 to 15:00.
January 18: Food Lovers Boksburg, North Rand Road, 10:00 to 15:00/Dawn Park Shopping Centre, 10:00 to 15:00/SUPERSPAR, The Square, Rietfontein Road, 11:00-16:00.
January 20: Kingfisher Square, 11:00 to 16:00.
You can also donate blood at the SANBS donor centre at the East Rand Mall from 10:00 to 18:00 on weekdays and from 09:00 to 15:00 on weekends and public holidays.
Donors must meet the minimum criteria:
• Weigh at least 50kg.
• Be between the ages of 16 and 65.
• Be in good health.
• Lead a sexually safe lifestyle.
• Consider your blood safe for transfusion.
• You may only donate every 56 days.
