EG Jansen flies school’s flag high at rugby festival

The local school only lost one match in the festival.

Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen delivered a strong showing at the 2025 Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival (KERF), which concluded on April 21 after three days of thrilling rugby action.

EG Jansen edged out Hoërskool Framesby 22–20 on the final day (April 21), following a 29–24 victory over Kearsney on the first day (April 17).

Their only defeat came at the hands of Westville Boys’ High, who beat them 36–5 on the second day (April 19).

Some exciting rugby was played by all the teams. The organisers made special mention of Milnerton High for their display of running rugby, and Westville Boys’ High for having produced the most attractive rugby at the festival.

The school’s director of rugby, Rudi Dames, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s overall performance.

“I think winning two out of three games at such a major festival is a great achievement,” he said.
