SPCA Cheerfund: Your support went a long way

The SPCA is thankful to those who supported the Cheer Fund.

The Boksburg SPCA is proud to report tangible progress on the projects funded by its Christmas Cheer Fund, which raised an impressive R119 015 over the festive season.

Launched in November with the aim of raising R100 000, the Cheer Fund once again exceeded expectations thanks to generous support.

The funds were earmarked for a range of vital animal welfare projects, and much of the work is already well underway.

Earlier goals announced for the fund included the acquisition of spay cradles, cat carriers, dog crates, collars, leashes, and both dry and wet food for cats and dogs. Thanks to the success of the Cheer Fund, many of these items have been procured or are in progress.

According to Boksburg SPCA secretary Sue Beadon, the following milestones have recently been achieved:

• 75 outreach sterilisations have been completed, helping to control the stray animal population in surrounding communities.
• A clinic theatre light has been delivered, improving surgical efficiency and safety in the SPCA’s medical facility.
• The SPCA is now purchasing food monthly for animals in the pound, as donations have not kept up with growing need.
• Eight new cat traps have been bought, assisting with the humane rescue of stray and feral cats.
• Medical supplies required for outreach work are being purchased on a monthly basis to support continued community care.

Beadon extended her heartfelt thanks to all donors: “Your donations are already making a real difference to the animals in our care and those we assist in the community. We are deeply grateful for every contribution.”

While the Cheer Fund brings in a major boost during the festive season, the Boksburg SPCA reminds the public that ongoing support is crucial year-round. Every donation helps the society continue their mission to prevent cruelty and promote kindness to animals.
