Brick by brick, Logan builds his way to victory
It was a brick-by-brick battle to the finish as two talented young builders went head-to-head in BrickTopia’s first-ever Build and Brag competition.
It was a battle of bricks and imagination at Boksburg’s BrickTopia’s first-ever Build and Brag competition, where local kids aged five to 12 were challenged to “build above their age” using advanced LEGO sets or their own creative designs.
After three weeks of public voting for 17 impressive entries, the top two finalists, Leo Pretorius (7) and Logan Minott (10), both from Farrarmere Primary School, went head-to-head in a thrilling final showdown on August 31.
The grand finale featured a Ferarri SF-24 LEGO build, judged by independent LEGO enthusiasts Tom Combrink, Richard Metclaf, and Danica Ravic.

Logan, who built the intricate LEGO® Harry Potter™ Hogwarts™ Icons – Collector’s Edition (ages 18+) to make it to the finals, edged out the competition and claimed the top prize: a R1 000 BrickTopia voucher.
“I feel really excited about this achievement. I’m passionate about LEGO because it’s entertaining,” said Logan, beaming with pride.
Leo didn’t walk away empty-handed – he won a R500 voucher.
