Community spirit shines at church family day
It was a day for the entire family to enjoy.
Sunshine, laughter and the warm embrace of community spirit filled the air on September 27 as NG Kerk Witfield-Wes hosted a vibrant family day, market day and spring fun walk.
Supporters turned out in their numbers to enjoy a festive day of food, fun, and fellowship. From the sweet scent of fresh pancakes and a variety of delicious eats to a spirited dog competition and the lively walk, there truly was something for everyone.
Committee member Pearl Thorp, who alongside volunteer Lynn Botha, spent the day sharing stories and spreading the word about the church’s outreach initiatives.
Mariet Lange, who attended the event with her dog, Sammy, explained why she supported the initiative.
“It’s for a good cause, and it’s great for the dogs to get out and about. The fun walk is definitely the highlight – and lots of fun, too. Of course, Sammy also got some treats at the event.”

Adding to the good vibes was the presence of the Boksburg SPCA, who gratefully received a generous collection of donations on the day.
Boksburg SPCA manager Vicky Finnemore thanked everyone who contributed the success of the event.
“We are so grateful for the awesome donations received, thank you. It means the world to us and the animals in our care,” said Finnemore.
Whether it was families walking hand-in-hand in the spring walk, pooches prancing proudly in the dog competitions, or children giggling through the stalls, the event was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with open hearts.
NG Kerk Witfield-Wes has once again proven that it’s not just a place of worship, but a cornerstone of care and connection in Witfield.
